Japanese National Netball Championships

This has taken me ages to write, and I've fortunately got a nice friend who's very 'ITC-literate'

Saturday 2nd October saw the Japanese National Netball Championships kick off in Tokyo. The Tokyo netball club met, Starbucks in hand, at 8:30am at Hachicko square and made our way some 30 mins to the sports pavilion.

The tournament consisted of 8 teams, playing in 2 pools. much Japanese 'ra-ra-raing' started the day off. Anyway, our club put in one team in each pool. Lots of nailbiting matches eventually resulted in one of our teams winning, and my team coming second in our pool, so it was a playoff - resulting in extra time, an eventual win by the first team, and a play off for 3rd place for us - which we won by one net, 3 seconds before the final whistle to a team which had lost us the first place in the pool. then to top the day, the
other team won overall - so we collected 1st and 3rd place medals - what fun!

...I think we also had height on our side!

I then raced back to Mr Hayashi (landlord's) BBQ on our roof with too much beer, plenty of food and a glorious sunset!
