Japanese Trainspotters

We went to the beach today and on the way back we pulled into on of the stations to find the platform full of photographers taking pictures of a Narita Express train. These are the trains that run from Tokyo to the Airport.

A little research this evening reveals that the model 253 which has served route since 1991 has been taken out of service and replaced by the model 259. An altogether more flashy train. My guess it that we were witnessing the last journey by a model 253, gosh how exciting. It was certainly enough to get all the photographers excited. You could even get you child dressed up in a train drivers uniform and posed in from of the train with a special sign.
