Felix had no rugby on Sunday, so we'd planned to go to the beach for the day. We woke up late (consequences of another beery night with our Auzzy neighbours on our roof) - the forecast was for more rain, and we were feeling really lethargic. However, this was going to be one of our last chances to go to the beach until the kids are back from the UK, so we continued with our plan.
So we went, very unprepared - forgot camera, forgot picnic blanket, forgot guidebook! Anyway, we found our way to Kamikura, a popular windsurfing spot. The beach was nice, bit seaweedy, and the weather was spotting with rain, but still hot. So in true Brit style, we had our picnic on the beach. There is a real problem here with crows on the beaches, and this one also had eagly things - one of which stole my sandwich from my hand which was a bit scary (and left me with only half my lunch!). We spent a long time in the sea which had fun waves, and was really warm (if rather seaweedy!) Then we walked down to the windsurfer launch area - there must have been 50 out on the water, with antoher 500 stored in loads and loads of sheds near the beach - this will be a fun place to come once we have our kit! The weather had really deteriorated by now though, and it was pouring with rain - we must have looked really dumb walking on the beach in the pouring rain! Still, true to a day out on the beach, we stopped for an ice-cream (ie-su-ku-ree-mu) on the way back to the station! No pictures sadly, as we forgot the camera, and Ross's phone was on it's last battery juice which we had to save to access the website to tell us how to get back home!
