Thailand Day 1

We set off early from home today at 0630 to get to Narita airport in time for our 1045 flight. No problems with trains or flights and we arrived on time in Bangkok at 1545. We jumped in taxi and headed for our  hotel in the centre of Bangkok. We checked in, duimped our stuff in the room, quick shower and headed back to the lobby to meet Somchai. Somchai is the Sales Manager for the Thai distributor that sells the products we make in Japan. At the beginning of November they visited the factory with 36 of their best customers. At the time he offered to take us out for dinner when we came to Bangkok. We were free on our first night so we graciously accepted.

We had a quick drive around the old town including a spin around the Constitution monument where a few hours earlier Mark Webber has been demo'ing his Red Bull F1 car to 100,000 appreciative Thai spectators. Shame we missed it by just a few hours.

Somchai and Charnchai took us to a really great restaurant besides the river with superb views of Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). We have delicious green curry, giant prawn soup, satay chicken, pancake rolls and melon for desert.
